Lucy Cole-Edelstein


Lucy is recognised as an industry leader in best practice community engagement and has worked for more than 20 years with government and non-government sectors. She has a flexible, creative and energetic approach to getting results in challenging environments and is skilled at creating and sustaining a supportive environment for all participants to ‘have a say’. Lucy is renowned for her ability to facilitate group processes around contentious issues to secure workable outcomes.

Lucy’s strategic advice, in-depth knowledge of engagement practice and extensive experience adds value to all projects. She is a highly experienced facilitator and stakeholder engagement practitioner, specialising in engagement process, design and implementation to ensure that ‘all the voices’ participate. She has worked on a range of diverse assignments including heading up the communication function on a number of large infrastructure projects being constructed under alliance contracts, participatory processes for policy development, corporate strategic planning, mediation and negotiation for stakeholder disputes, and community planning.

For the past decade Lucy has been at the forefront of the growing consultation industry in Australia and has undertaken projects across the country. Lucy led the team that won IAP2 2010 International Best Project Award and the 2010 Australasian Most Innovative Project Award, as well as the 2007 IAP2 Australasia ‘Most Robust Process’ Award. Lucy maintains a keen interest in her industry and has recently been accredited to deliver the new IAP2 Australasia Engagement Essentials Certificate course.
